Tessa reviewed: Wooden mechanical toy (automata) making

"I took my bestie for a day Automata making for her birthday. It was just me and her which was perfect. We had the best time, honestly, amazing. Stef is a wonderful, patient tutor who made the whole day so relaxed! I don’t think beginners even covers how inexperienced we were. I am not artistic in any way shape or form but he just bought out the best in both of us, I was dreading painting mainly because of my lack of artistry but I was thrilled with my end result and I have never seen my friend so happy with her achievement too. Unusually, Stef doesn’t seems to have course dates on here, I sent him a message to see if there was any chance of attending day course on a specific date and he agreed. So don’t be shy to contact on here as just ask. It was a really fun, relaxed and fulfilling day. Don’t let anything put you off, if we can do it, anyone can!!! "

Hannah Brown reviewed: Lampwork Glassmaking Creative Workshop

"This was my first time trying lampwork glass, and I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the experience was much more enjoyable than I imagined. The studio felt clean, organised, and well prepared, which immediately made me feel comfortable. The session moved at a good pace and nothing felt confusing or rushed. When questions came up, they were answered clearly and in a way that actually made sense, even if you had no prior experience. Mistakes were treated as part of the process, which helped keep the atmosphere relaxed. Working with the flame was surprisingly calming once you got used to it, and it was very satisfying to see the glass slowly take shape. Leaving with a finished piece that I made myself was a great feeling. I’d happily recommend this to friends or anyone curious about trying something creative and different. It’s a solid experience and feels well worth the time."

Hari Berrow reviewed: Daisy Picture: Wet Felting Workshop

"This is my second course with Svetlana and yet again it was brilliant. I bought this one as a Christmas present for my mother who, after a few hours learning, is now utterly obsessed with felting. Svetlana is knowledgable, kind and generous and always works hard to ensure you’re taking away something to be proud of. "

Wool & Silk Art Studio responded:

"Thank you so much for such a beautiful review 🤍 It truly means the world to me. I absolutely loved having you back again, and it makes me so happy to hear that your mum has fallen in love with felting too — that is the best Christmas present ever 🥰 Watching that spark appear is why I do what I do. Thank you for your kind words about my teaching and for trusting me with such a special gift for your mum. I’m so proud of what you both created and I can’t wait to welcome you again for another creative adventure 💫 Kind wishes, Svetlana "

MJ reviewed: Learn to sew a tote bag using a till roll technique

"Although till roll patchwork is a simple concept. The hints and tips given during the workshop really help to take the mystery out of putting different patterns together. Making it a wonderful method to use up material trimming from other projects. Building it into a bag makes it easier to grasp how useful a toolkit is to make other products. The team are really helpful and supportive of attendees and keen to ensure everyone achieves what they want to do. A great day out. "

Emily Jamiesonb reviewed: Learn traditional upholstery

"I have done a couple of sessions on my chair so far, and I am delighted. I am a complete upholstery novice and Peter is an excellent tutor, shows what to do, leaves you to it, but is available if needed for advice and help. If I had one criticism it is that he makes it all look a great deal more easy than it actually is, but that comes with his decades of experience, obviously... Highly recommended. "

Andora Webster reviewed: Christmas Baking Workshop Devon

"Purchased as a gift for my mother, unfortunately she was unable to attend due to having the flu a few days prior. I was informed there is a strict 4 week cancellation period, with no option to reschedule or get a refund. I therefore intended to attend myself, however I hadn’t realised that when the date of the initial booking was changed by the organiser the time was changed also. The time was included in a new confirmation email but had never been highlighted as having altered. I was refused a refund or the opportunity to attend another date by Craft Courses. Very disappointed as £60 wasted for genuine reason, the response from Craft Courses lacked goodwill, won’t be using this company again."

Ground Up Cookery School responded:

"Hello Andora, I’m sorry to hear that your mother was unwell and that you were unable to attend the course. When your original requested date was fully booked, an alternative date was offered and confirmed. The course start time was included in the confirmation email at that point and did not change thereafter. On the morning of the course we received a call shortly before the scheduled start time raising questions about the start time, however the details provided in the confirmation remained correct. As outlined clearly at the time of booking, the course is subject to a four-week cancellation policy. At that stage staff are scheduled and ingredients are purchased and prepared in advance, meaning we’re unable to offer refunds or rescheduling at short notice. We appreciate how disappointing it is to miss a course, particularly due to illness, but both the cookery school and Craft Courses acted in line with the booking information provided and the published terms. We hope future customers will understand that this review reflects an unfortunate situation rather than the quality of the experience or the care taken by either small business."
