"Purchased as a gift for my mother, unfortunately she was unable to attend due to having the flu a few days prior. I was informed there is a strict 4 week cancellation period, with no option to reschedule or get a refund. I therefore intended to attend myself, however I hadn’t realised that when the date of the initial booking was changed by the organiser the time was changed also. The time was included in a new confirmation email but had never been highlighted as having altered. I was refused a refund or the opportunity to attend another date by Craft Courses. Very disappointed as £60 wasted for genuine reason, the response from Craft Courses lacked goodwill, won’t be using this company again."
Ground Up Cookery School responded:
"Hello Andora,
I’m sorry to hear that your mother was unwell and that you were unable to attend the course.
When your original requested date was fully booked, an alternative date was offered and confirmed. The course start time was included in the confirmation email at that point and did not change thereafter.
On the morning of the course we received a call shortly before the scheduled start time raising questions about the start time, however the details provided in the confirmation remained correct.
As outlined clearly at the time of booking, the course is subject to a four-week cancellation policy. At that stage staff are scheduled and ingredients are purchased and prepared in advance, meaning we’re unable to offer refunds or rescheduling at short notice.
We appreciate how disappointing it is to miss a course, particularly due to illness, but both the cookery school and Craft Courses acted in line with the booking information provided and the published terms.
We hope future customers will understand that this review reflects an unfortunate situation rather than the quality of the experience or the care taken by either small business."
