I’m Rikki (she/her), the maker behind Harewood Handicrafts. I’ve brought my passion for creativity into the adult world after a decade of teaching Design and Technology in secondary schools, so I'm confident I can guide you through with compassion and fun! When I’m not teaching or in the studio, I’m also navigating life as a new mum to a daughter (born Jan 2025) who is always full of beans; which makes those moments of calm and creativity even more meaningful to me. I specialise in working with leather and wood, two timeless materials that invite you to slow down, use your hands, and create something beautiful and lasting. Whether you come with friends, family, or just yourself, I’ll make sure you leave not only with your own handcrafted piece, but with the pride of knowing you made it! Please check out my socials to follow along on my journey.

FAQs

At my home studio in Basingstoke. Full details will be sent once you book including a w3w code. Please only use the directions info provided via messages, once the booking is confirmed, as the postcode is not specific.
Please walk down the driveway and access via the white side door. You should see the signage on the front!

My studio is adjacent to my home on a quiet residential road. There are no parking restrictions. If you are able to park on the road to the left of Tesco and walk 30 secs round the corner that would be ideal. Otherwise, feel free to park on the road outside my house but please be conscientious of neighbours' driveways.

The course starts at 9am for morning sessions or 1pm for afternoons. We will get ourselves a brew and chat before we get started around 9:15/1:15. Please don't arrive before 8:45/12:45.
We will aim to end as close to 12/4pm as possible. I will happily find another trinket for you to make if we run a little early - I want to make sure you get your money's worth 😉 If you need to leave early for any reason that is absolutely fine but please note that you may not complete all 3 pairs in the time available.

I have space for 4 guests at any one time. I am willing to take 2 as a minimum.

If you would like to arrange a group session (e.g. hen do, mothers' day, etc.) that would be awesome! Just let me know in advance so I can hold spaces open for you all.

- Comfy clothes and shoes
- Glasses if you need them for fine work (e.g. reading glasses)
- You may wish to tie back your hair but it's not required
- PPE is not required but if you would like anything provided (e.g. apron, mask, gloves) just let me know on the day
- Enthusiasm and curiosity!

The cost covers:
Your finished pairs of earrings to take home.
All tools and materials.
A relaxed, friendly workshop environment.
Hot drinks and snacks: tea, coffee, squash and a selection of biccies will be available throughout. Please let me know if you have any allergies!

There is a very short walk down the driveway, through the car port with a small step up into the studio.
There are double doors for entry and I am happy to open both if needed.
The bench at which you will be working is at bar height. There are bar stools with backs for comfort or you can choose to stand. We will be using a machine that really will require you to stand but I am happy to help if that is not possible. While the above conditions are not necessarily conducive to wheelchair access, if you are coming as a group I am happy to put out a sturdy ramp to counter the step and provide use of my personal desk instead of the bar height table for one guest. Please let me know in advance.

You are welcome to use our downstairs bathroom. Entry is via the front door with a key so as not to disturb my family too much by walking through the house.
