Maker's bio

I have been an artist for over 25 years with a specific interest in Japanese art and culture. This led to a fascination with Japanese ceramics and now I enjoy creating unique hand built and decorative pieces that are rooted in traditional Japanese techniques with a specific interest in Kurinuki and Kintsugi. I love the meditative effect of these traditional crafts and the unique and often surprising results they produce. My little studio/workshop opened in 2021 and is situated in a converted stable in the grounds of Wolvey Hall, a Grade II listed building. The perfect place for creativity.

Celia Perez Mourin reviewed: Kintsugi Workshop for beginners

"Thank you Lucy (Studio KinKou) I’ve had a lovely and productive time learning the art of Kintsugy from someone who loves her craft. Your warm hospitality, tasty homemade banana cake , T & C was greatly appreciated. Going fwd I look forward to practicing what I learned repairing the old broken Japanese vase 🏺 to large to bring with me to the workshop. "

Catherine reviewed: Pottery Workshop: Make a set of Clay Bells

"Really enjoyed the course. Tutor was welcoming, friendly and hugely knowledgeable. I was able to make several bells whilst learning lots about different types of clay and methods of decoration. Also, really interesting learning about the history of the bells. Lovely location, great coffee and very tasty cake."
