Maker's bio

Hello, my name is Clare and I am pleased to offer workshops and classes in my studio. I offer a range of courses, from short taster sessions, half or full day workshops and 6 week courses. Here at Halton Village Silver Studio we work in silver and copper, using both traditional and modern metalsmith techniques, and enjoy using enamel to add colour. My workshops include a range of Jewellery making but I also enjoy teaching other metal smith sessions including making metal plant labels, spoons and bowls, as well as creating metal flowers. My studio has all the equipment you need to create some lovely pieces to take home, and each session includes all of the materials you will need.

"I really enjoyed this course. I'm not the most 'crafty' person, so wasn't sure what to expect. With Clare's tuition and ample time to practice, I made a beautiful sea glass pendant. "

"I had a fantastic day working with silver clay thanks to Clare! She taught me all the relevant information and guided me on what would and wouldn’t work when planning my piece. Clare communicated from the start to make sure I was prepared for what to expect, knew where to go and made sure it was nice and toasty inside despite the awful weather outside! Such a pleasant experience and I am looking forward to returning (and bringing friends) to enjoy your workshops. "

"Found it very expensive for what we did, We could have accomplished our goal in half the time. No real input from tutor, not show what to do, just verbally instructed. "

"It's a shame that you feel that way, especially as all of your party did so well at it, and went away having learnt how to drill the glass and having made a sea glass pendant, as well as having all the information you need to continue doing it for yourselves including where and what equipment to purchase. Your party started the workshop feeling unsure and a little nervous about drilling, but finished it demonstrating great confidence and skill in it. I'm sorry you felt it wasn't good value for money, you were provided with all materials required including a silver necklace chain and pinch bail, practice and jewellery quality sea glass and a 2 hour workshop. Your feedback is somewhat suprising as your group left the session saying how much you had enjoyed it and that you planned to return for another workshop. You would be very welcome to visit again. "
